Phoenix Clinical Research was established in 2006 and is housed in a modern 10,000 square foot facility under the direct supervision of board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Richard Berkowitz.
Dr. Berkowitz has been in private practice since 1996 and has participated in clinical research trials as both a Sub-Investigator and a Principal Investigator. In that time he has performed, or been involved in, over sixty clinical trials and personally oversees every study. The vast majority of patients enrolled in his studies comes from his large personal orthopedic practice and extensive research patient database. Because of this, Dr Berkowitz already has a professional relationship with his research patients resulting in excellent recruitment and patient participation throughout his studies. He is a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA) and is a Certified Clinical Research Associate. Dr. Berkowitz is on site daily and supervises his staff in conducting a variety of medical studies, including Phase II , III, and IV clinical trials as well as orthopedic device studies. As a specialist in hip and knee replacement surgery, he performs over 600 joint replacements a year. He has an excellent working relationship with his local hospital and has performed many “in-hospital” studies for various conditions on his patients undergoing surgery. He has co-authored many clinical research papers and has had his research presented at multiple medical meetings.
